Simply take your time to get used to it, because it's really worth it. On the downside, the program offers so much information and such a handful of options that its interface may feel overwhelming at first sight. Jaikoz is definitely a very powerful tag editor, making the task of organizing a massive music collection a bit easier and faster. As an extra, Jaikoz can automatically synchronize the new data with your iTunes library. Of course, you also have the possibility to fine-tune all these changes manually and see a preview before actually applying them. The program connects to online music databases and downloads all the necessary data to fill in tag fields, correct file names, get album covers, and even download lyrics. The best thing about Jaikoz is that manual editing is limited to the minimum.

Recently only some months back, I bought myself an M1 Macbook Pro with 8Gigs of RAM and 512GB of SSD. It got a lot of attention from everyone.īeing a tech enthusiast and a programmer, I was amazed to see the performance of the new apple M1 chip. Last year in November 2020 apple releases their first ARM64-based M1 chip. In this blog post, we are going to build and install OpenCV on anM1 Mac. We’re far from the 23mm or nothing days of the past, and there’s everything here from traditional 23mm tyres up to plush 28mm rubber. Only one part of your bike touches the road surface, so you’d better make sure it’s quality. Similarly, road tubeless has added another option to the traditional clincher or tubular argument, and many wheels that would have been clincher rims before are now tubeless-ready as well.Īnd don’t forget tyres. They’re more comfortable to ride, and they have lower rolling resistance. For every wide rim, there’s another slim one, and for every aero-profiled rim there’s one where weight is the key concern. Five or six years ago the norm was a 21mm tyre now people are riding a 23 or 25mm. First up, now disc brakes are appearing everywhere you’ll need a specific set of wheels if you want to run discs, and it’s not just alloy clinchers either, there are some real carbon beauties for disc brake bikes. If one tyre width is faster than the other, it should require a lower power output to maintain the target speed. Lots of off-the-shelf bikes come with down-specced wheels, meaning a change can make a big difference, and they’re really easy to change compared to, say, a crankset.įortunately, we don’t have the wheel size conundrums of our MTB-riding cousins (although the Cannondale Slate has opened that Pandora’s box) but there are still plenty of differences between road bike wheels. In the last 10 years, rim widths have grown tremendously. As will tyre pressure, with both the 26mm and 30mm tyres inflated to 90psi / 6.2bar. If you were to describe one place on a bike as the first upgrade point, it would probably be the wheels. Wide rims mean riding lighter, smaller performance tires with cushiony, high air volume and firm surface grip, added American Classic president Bill Shook. You might also use a check if you find yourself in a financial emergency while traveling, such as needing to purchase something from a merchant who doesn’t accept credit or debit cards. Why Use a Convenience Check at All?Ĭonsumers can use the checks for things like transferring a balance if you have an existing balance on another card you might sign a check to pay that balance off, effectively transferring it to a card with a lower interest rate to save money. If the check you write pushes you over your credit limit then you can get into even more trouble, because you’ll be assessed more fees and a higher interest rate called a penalty APR. What you might not know, however, is that credit card convenience checks can make your available credit disappear very quickly, leaving you with extra fees and a sky-high interest rate. It all sounds pretty convenient – hence the name. For some banks, any use of a credit card convenience check constitutes a cash advance. If you write it to yourself and cash it, it is considered a cash advance. If you write it to a merchant, the credit card company usually counts it as a charge on your credit card. Instead of swiping your card, you write a check against your credit account. What exactly are they? What are they used for? And should you use them? What is a Convenience Check?Ī convenience check is just that – a check that’s drawn on your credit card account. They look a lot like a regular check and have all the same elements, but they’re nothing like the checks you get for your bank account. If you have a credit card – and chances are, if you’re an adult in the United States, you do – you’ve probably been sent blank checks for your card. Here the Qt tool is used for designing and building GUI. The grid arrangement is much more suitable than a nested arrangement of horizontal and vertical layouts. It can be created by placing objects in a grid layout. The horizontal and vertical layouts can be together combined and nested to any depth. The horizontal layouts ensure as widgets within are aligned horizontally, vertical layouts ensure that they are aligned vertically. It is the simplest way to arrange objects on a form is to place them in a horizontal or vertical layout. The cursor having a blue color is displayed in the layout as an object is dragged over it to indicate where the object will be added. The objects can be inserted into an existing layout by dragging them from their current positions and dropping them at the required location. The layout object can be selected and placed within the layout along with other widgets and layout objects to build a layout hierarchy. It is achieved by selecting the objects that you need to manage and applying one of the standard layouts using the main toolbar. The objects are created by applying a layout to a group of existing objects. Placing the objects in a layout also ensures that they will be resized correctly when the form is resized.Ī top-level layout is used to ensure that your widgets will resize correctly when its window is resized. The objects on the form need to be placed into layouts that ensures the objects will be displayed properly when the form is used in an application. Below is an example of what you might have. Start with a line segment if there is one. Let's start in the lower left (or most southwesterly) corner and work clockwise for this example.įor each line segment, a bearing and distance is given. If you have XY or Northing and Easting coordinates, you can enter them, otherwise just pick any point in the drawing. Then at the next prompt enter stay in the line command and draw the next segment. _LINE command because you need to draw a curve next. We will assume that this curve is tangent to the previous segment (we'll cover non-tangent curves later).ĭraw a line perpendicular to the previous segment towards the inside of the curve. Make this line the same length as the radius of the curve. _LENGTHEN command to set the exact length. The opposite endpoint is the center point for the next curve. The image below is how it should look now (the green line is the new one). Now rotate this line, using the opposite endpoint as the radius point. Since this curve is to the right, rotate the line clockwise (meaning you will have to enter a negative angle) the amount of the delta of the curve. Now you have the three points needed to draw the ARC. _ARC command, enter "C" for center point and pick the endpoint of the line that represents the center point. Next pick the other endpoint of the line, that is the startpoint of the ARC. Next pick the endpoint of the previous line segment. This curve is also tangent, but in this case the previous entity is a curve. If the second curve goes in the same direction, it's called a compound curve, if the second curve goes in the opposite direction, it's called a reverse curve. Notice that this curve is to the left, not the right, so this is a reverse curve. We need to do the same as above to find the center point, except rather than draw a perpendicular line, we need to draw a radial line from the previous curve. In this case we already have the green line in place, so extend it out past the last curve a bit. Now trim off the part that is inside the previous curve. _LENGTHEN command to make this line 500 foot long (the radius of this curve). The other end is the center point for the next curve. Now rotate this line the amount of the delta, just like before. The price should be sweet enough for anyone needing to rely on this sort of tool on a frequent basis.Because this curve is to the left, the rotation angle will be positive, not negative. The "Unregistered" watermark on the drawing pane may aggravate some users, but that's a minor quibble. Likewise, the Help feature is very thorough. Metes and Bounds includes a link to a series of online tutorials that are nicely designed and fully informative for any novice users getting up and running with this tool box. We liked how we could devise multiple layers for overlapping plots based on latitudinal and longitudinal data or GPS data. We particularly appreciated the robust feature set for creating a variety of plots and the editing functionality for manipulating the completed drawings. Entering latitude and longitude was a snap. This app performed very well during our tests, and we were very pleased with the features it offered. The interface design isn't jazzy or overly colorful, but it's very functional and clearly marked so even novice users will quickly understand how to navigate its features. A Drawing Wizard automatically opens at launch to prompt the user for the type of drawing he or she wants to develop. Metes and Bounds launches a large window with a row of icon-buttons along the top, a vertical pane with some data controls on the left side, and a large drawing and editing pane taking up most of the window's real estate. Surveyors, environmental impact researchers, historical impact researchers, cell-phone tower site locators, and real estate developers-these are just a few of the folks who will find real value in this nicely featured application for plotting maps based on survey or GPS data. Our Mac version is still in beta, but about to be alpha. Our download pages for Win and Linux have more than 25,000 hits. There is also a French website devoted to LightZone, which is excellent but a bit out of date (we're hoping the owner will update this fall a bit.). There are several videos in French by a user. There's an active localization project going on, so we're working on more languages and hope also to get all the documentation translated, including our videos. It has been localized(program only so far) in several languages. There's a blog of sorts, forums with over 3,700 members, and is cross platform Win, Mac, linux. LightZone is an open source project with its own website. It's in 25 languages, they have forums and a blog, and is cross platform, Win, Mac, Linux. RawTherapee is an open source project with their own website. Lightzone is more flexible as far as we can see. LightZone allows users to build their own raw profiles, or tweak the existing ones. Both programs are probably equal in recovery operations, once you know how to use them properly (if you've actually blown your highlights, or totally blocked up your shadows, there's no magic solution anywhere.). LightZone is strongest in selective editing, contrast control, and B+W conversion. Raw Therapee seems to be strongest in detail extraction. LightZone is also pretty intuitive to use, much more visually oriented, Raw Therapee would appeal more to the engineering minded. LightZone is slightly(maybe) less good than Raw Therapee on the conversion side of things (in some cases, sort of-it would take a while to fully explain.), but goes much further than Raw Therapee on the editing side of things. RawTherapee is excellent for raw conversion, if a bit intense. The inner construction of the discus can either be solid or hollow while the cross section of the edge should have a radius of 6mm. It should be 22cm in diameter for men and 18cm for women. The discus can be made of wood, plastic, fiberglass or metal with a circular edge and metallic rim. However, the distance is measured till the point where the tape crosses the inside edge of the circumference of the circle. The officials hold the tape in such a way that the zero end is at the point where the discus broke the field and then the measuring tape is drawn to the centre of the throwing circle. The measurement is made from the first point where the discus breaks the ground to the inside of the arc of the throwing circle with a tape. In case of a tie-breaker, the second-best throw, determines the winner. Based on the initial three attempts, the top eight are allowed another three chances and their positions are decided based on the longest throw. Every competitor is allowed three attempts to mark their best throw. Each country is allowed to send three discus throwers at the event.įrom the qualifying event, only 12 athletes with the best throws can proceed to the final. Sport guide: Throwing Discus Discus throw rules and scoring system at the OlympicsĪthletes achieving the Olympic qualification mark represent the country at the Games. Each athlete is given eight attempts at the Olympics to mark their best possible throw. There is also a particular boundary marked for landing the disc and if lands beyond then the throw is considered invalid. And if the athlete crosses the circle before the disc lands on the ground then it is considered a foul throw. The athletes are also prohibited to touch the ground beyond the circle. The metal disc is basically thrown by an athlete by standing inside a circle with a diameter of 2.5m.ĭiscus throwers are not allowed to touch the top of rim of the throwing circle, but can touch the inside edges of it. The weight of the discus is fixed at 2kg for the men and 1kg for women. What is the weight of the discus and how is it thrown? The technique also helped him earn a silver medal at the 1900 Olympics in Paris. It should also be noted that Frantisek Janda-Suk, a Czech athlete, was the first modern athlete to throw the discus while rotating the whole body. The discus throw is also part of the modern decathlon. The women's competition was included at Amsterdam 1928. The men's discus throw event then became a part of the Olympics at the very first edition at Athens in 1896. The discipline would be later re-discovered by Christian Georg Kohlrausch and his students in the 1870s. It was introduced in the ancient Greek pentathlon event - running, long jump, discus throw, javelin throw, and wrestling - and can be dated back to 708 BC. The discus throw, where a competitor hurls a heavy disc, was one of the events at the Ancient Olympics. |
